About a year ago, while floating down a local river, I became infatuated with the exposed tree roots along the river bank. This became the subject of inspiration for a recent series of paintings. I refer to them as “Rootscapes”. It was a labor of love and exploration for myself as an artist. Being such a different subject from what I usually paint I was able to explore with out my own artist expectations.
By February 09 I had completed 17 paintings for a solo show titled “The Root Cause”. My rootscapes were chosen by the Mid Missouri Fine Art Society for their annual solo artist exhibit in their gallery in Washington, Missouri.

Beautiful as usual. Can see the dancers in the roots.
Thank you Jim. You can see all of the Rootscapes on my website. http://www.laniefrick.com
Beautiful Lanie, only you can take something that we see everyday and make a masterpiece out of it. If we dont know our “roots” how will we know our “branches”/
Lanie,
I met you today for the first time at the Licking Museum, thanks to Lois Waters. Was very interestd in roots. A great slant and one very dear to a lot of Missiouians(sp?) Any way I said I would get back to you. My two favorites of the roots series are Root of Dance, and Root Source. I swear the Root of Dance is our great place to swin, picnic, crawdad hunt etc. We are on the Piney just north of Mineral Springs. Our Root of Dance is probably 1/4 mile from Mineral Springs.
Enjoyed the event. What a great bunch of artist in such a small area. Bought an indian flute so am trying to get the hang of that. You are alway welcome to come out to check out area, just give me a heads up. Gate usually locked.

Hi Jody. It was nice to meet you. Glad you liked the show and the Museum. I’m also pleased you like the rootscapes. I did get much of my inspiration from floating on the Piney so Root Of The Dance could be from your area. Good luck playing your flute.
Hope all is well. Love the new additions of the other animals. Outstanding as always.
